I agree...a name scratched on the back is not proof of anything. But it IS good to know that there were recipients named "Lang"....leaves it open to possibilities.

    Thanks again, Francois!!

      Congratulations...

      very nice badge Lorenzo!
I post pictures of mine... I think is original despite the high position ofthe eagle, and seems to be an early type.

      cheers,
      Matteo

        Dear Matteo,

Your badge is at least weird. It has a Juncker eagle on an Assmann type wreath. Also the tailfeather cutout is a bit unusual for an early Juncker eagle.

          Hi,

Lorenzo, a really nice example - good find!

Frank, there's nothing wierd about Matteo's badge - reason?.....

Matteo, sorry, but your example is a dip wreath repro, plain and simple. The dip wreath repros are found as Pilot, PO, Observer and Para Badges. These badges used the same wreath and nicely cast eagles from genuine badges. Here you have the repro dip wreath combined with a cast Juncker 1st pattern Observer eagle. Notice on Matteo's eagle the obverse detailing and the maker's mark are blurry (poor detail) when compared to the original above.

            Hi,
I go with Frank and Mike.
Matteo's badge is one that has been offered on Ebay and Epier several times.
These are good castings of the originals.
Tailfeathers are cut out wrong, eagle is mounted too high on the wreath, bad details etc.

            Jos.

Ok, Mike, I will be more brutal next time. "Weird" was my way to break it to Matteo gently and let room for other opinions. I don´t want to be accused of again to block other´s opinions by expressing a strong "verdict".

              Cheers, Frank

Frank, Mike, Jos thanks for the comments.

Don't worry about being direct with your opinions, far better to get a brutal one than no one (in any case I know that something weird or unusual about a badge is usually a synonym for fake...)

                cheers,
                Matteo
