Another .... sorry for the lack of clarity you other fellas have in your photos. Not enough natural light here today in town.

Another view --- I love the vaulting of this badge.

Sorry, but my camera is incapable of the closeup work on the maker's mark that you others have with your equipment. Take my word for it, the period is there to the right of the O.

There are other small differences among the OMs shown here. Mike Heuer´s has a more complex legspace in comparison to the often found "perfect O".

I will have a OM badge sent to me next week and will throw it into the discussion as well. The old guy who will sell it to me (just a bit too young to be a vet though) told me absolutely convinced that these are by Otto Meybauer ("OM"), made before his brother Paul took over the production.
Hm, just a story or some truth to it? Definitely worth some investigation. Does anybody know about two Meybauer brothers or at least relatives, one named Otto?

              Cheers, Frank

Very interesting Frank! Meybauer has been mentioned as a pilot's
badge maker, but I've never seen an example.
                That might explain a lot!

Mike, do you have any idea when your transport guy was
                awarded his pilot's badge??

Here is another shot for comparison. Dot to the right of the
                "O".

As far as hinges on "OM"s go, I like to also see the horizontal
lines. The wingtips are finished off differently from
badge to badge. Compare these with MM's.

Joe, I'll agree with the others, looks like your hinge has been
replaced. That would explain why this rare badge was a fairly
                  cheap price!
