    Glider Pilot and Flak Badges

I've been looking for any information I can find on two WWII German Badges that have been in my possession for about 30 years.
Please look at the photos and give me an honest opinion and any information you could impart.

The LDO number appears to be L/56 or L/58 on this one:

    Thanks for the help.

    Hi asg,

The Heer Flak badge is not a good one in my opinion. The hinge seems to be cast with the badge´s base and the overall reverse outlines of the badge, especially the eagle, are very inaccurate. Also the pin is very atypical for German badges.

I will not offer a detailed opinion on the glider badge, but do not care much for it either. Although it does not have the typical Souval post war catch it is probably L/58, which is Souval and Souval is not a known maker of these, but produced many "collector´s copies"-badges post 1945. L/56 would be Funcke & Brüninghaus, also not a known maker of glider badges.

    Cheers, Frank

      Hi

      Hello.

Whilst I am no expert on Glider badges I have seen and handled quite a few originals. I have never seen an original with this type of maker mark. Also if I were looking to buy this badge I would take note of the distinct lack of definition in the eye area.

This particular badge does not come cheap and personally I would give this example a miss.

      Just my opinion.

        thank you Frank and Stagger

I appreciate you sharing your knowledge and expertise on this matter (as depressing as your assesments are). I haven't had much luck finding a good source to investigate these badges.
I am looking to sell these to an interested collector, but have no intention of doing so until I am certain they are authentic.
Where would be a good place to have these looked at? Organizations, clubs, appraisers, experts...?
I'd like to look in my area for the right place, but am unsure how to procede.
Once again, I'm very greatful for all of your help.
        Jeff.

You can't get much better than where you're at right now! I too must put the thumbs down on the Glider badge. I don't see any characteristics of a badge that I could identify to a known maker of these badges. Sorry!
