    BSW Para Badge

    Hello Gentleman,

Well, the Lowell show did cost me a new rear quarter panel for my car, but all was not lost in the name of collecting. When browsing the offerings, I picked up this buntmedal BSW Para from Robert Condor. The price was right and the seller is very cool. Price point $750.00. Robert told me that he originally aquired this from Detlev. I was seeking out the allusive GWL Pilots badge that seems to haunt me, but this was a really nice surprise. Enjoy the pics.

    Cordially yours,
    JD

      Dear Joe,

Given your bad luck with the car panel, I hate to say it, but that BSW is not textbook. Characteristic for the BSW para are the little blobs at the top end of each oakleaf, which your badge has not. Also hinge is a bit off (should be more delicate) and rivets too. Hard to tell on the eagle due to perspective...

I have a few good BSW paras on file by now but hesitate to post somebody else´s pics. If nobody else come forward with his pics, I will post to help.

In the meantime, one of Detlev´s angled shots, at least you can clearly see the leaf blobs here. Also, check the wreath outlines reverse!

      Cheers, Frank

I have to agree with Frank. Take a look at this thread.

          Hello Gentleman,

Thank you kindly for your responses, I agree in that if the ideal for textbook will be the leaf blobs , then this piece is off the mark; however orginality is another question.

In reference to the hinge, mine is the same, my pic is not that clear. The rivets on the example shown by Frank are more worn, but notice that same hue around them. The Eagle on mine also matches that of the one Frank posted, but a better angle would certainly help make a better evaluation.

Again I would have to say that if the blobs are the excepted standard, then this one does not have that feature so maybe it is not for everyone's collection. I also think that the one I posted is just a superior quality piece. With that said, I have e-mailed three top dogs all well known here and have been given the thumbs up on the piece.

I am not calling anyone out on this, I am just sharing information as attained to everyones benefit. I will happily keep this piece based on the expertise given to me by those whom know far more than myself.

I also think the topic of the blob leaf needs to be exspanded on.

          Best Regards,
          JD

Here is a (relatively) new addition to my nest. Not even paid for yet; I hope the guy who sold it to me isn't watching.

Anyhow, I believe the points Frank was referring to are visible on my badge.

            Regards,
            Mark

              Dear Joe,

As I said, it is not textbook, I didn´t neccessarily doubt the originality. Mark Miller´s example is textbook, look at the wreath. The wreath that your BSW para has is the wreath of a Brüder Schneider Wien PILOT´s badge. I am not saying that it is impossible that they also used their pilot´s badge wreath at some time for their paras, but every other BSW para I have on file has the blob leaf wreath.

              Cheers, Frank

                All Mine

                Hi Frank,
The badge you have pictured from Detlev now resides in my collection. The original purchaser returned it to him not thinking it was good, so I gladly stepped in and bought it.

                  Dear Eric,

That´s cool, it is a nice one, still looking for one myself. I am also glad to have read that you have added a nice Juncker 3rd pattern pilot recently!

Hopefully you can post a good pic of that BSW, so Joe can compare a few things between his and Mmiller´s badge. Maybe you have a closeup of the claws area too?

                  Cheers, Frank

I can do better than pics in this case Frank - He's only 20 minutes away from me and we get together on a regular basis, so on my next trip I'll be sure to bring it along for some up close comparison. In the mean time, I have taken a closeup shot of the claws as requested.
The 3rd pattern Juncker is a real peach! I got it from our own Stogieman at the Lowell, Mass. show. I'll show it in a new thread.

                      Dear Joe,

Please check that claw area on your eagle in comparison with this pic Eric kindly posted. I think it is different.

Thanks to Stuart who noticed this.

P.S: @Eric: oh from that stogieman, eh? Then I bet the price was a peach as well? Was it a nice sight with all your blood on the snow while you paid for it through your nose?

Hey, just kidding, EXCELLENT Juncker you show in that other thread and you should be thankful to Juncker-Stogie that he parted with it!

                      Cheers, Frank

                        Hey Frank,
Actually he was in a good mood when I bought it so I made out better than you think! No blood this time! I got the original case with it too, pretty much for nothing! I'm sure glad he's an " Imperialist "

Ya know what, you lay your money out to buy the stuff, wait 3-4 weeks for it to be shipped to you, maybe get stiffed by customs, then place it up for sale for the price you payed for it, from a dealer who is one of the sponsors of this forum, and what do you get?

                          Real smooth, real smooth
Lets see, that means for all my time and effort I made a whopping 0% return, but I did get a great big heaping of sarcasm.

My prices reflect the time, effort and risk I put out to bring strictly the best items to a table. My reputation for providing strictly the best material, whether third reich, or Imperial, speaks for itself.

Anybody ever has a problem with anything I've sold, they know I stand behind it 100%.

But my name's not one of the ones y'all fawn over on a daily basis, although i do count a couple of them as close friends.

So, ergo, despite the fact that my items are of absolute top quality, absolute authenticity, with iron-clad guarantees, I'm not worth it?

                          Kind of makes you wonder.............

                            Dear Rick,

As I said, I was just KIDDING. What´s the matter with me? Am I too serious all the time so that WHEN I occasionally joke around people think I am out of line? Sarcasm, yes, but still a joke, Stogie, black tinted remarks from a man whose nation is renowned for good humour!

And that was a joke as well.

Cheer up, I know you are an excellent asset to the e-stand but I do retain my right to joke around, even as a moderator!

                            Cheers, Frank

                              Ah Frank.....

.....I think Rick has probably got just a wee bit of cabin fever from all that snow up there in the Nor'East. There is no doubt that the man definitely does bring some very, very nice pieces to the table.....the cranky, sensitive bloke.
