Question on FJ Badges by CEJ

    Hey all,

I was looking at an Juncker marked FJ badge the other day that had all the details you'd expect to find on an Juncker badge from this firm, but something puzzled me. The wreath edge was hand filed, and not on the area where back meets the side of the wreath as normally encountered. To describe it another way, it would be the area your fingers contact on the sides when holding it.

I don't recall ever seeing this on Juncker pilots, RO, Observers, etc. Has anyone else out there ever seen this?

    Cheers

    Hi George,

Do you mean on the flat part of the wreath? If so, was it near the rivets - ie could the rivets have been reworked/repaired?

      Hey Mike,

No, I was referring to the edge where you might find sheer marks on a wound badge, or if it was a coin, the edge itself. To put it another way, if you were looking at an EK2, it would be the view where you would see the seam of the two halves plus core. So, would Juncker have taken a file to the edge of a para badge? I haven't seen this on their other qualification badges which is why ask.

      Thanks

        Sorry for the misunderstanding George!

Yes, I have remnants of hand filing on the edges of my remaining "standard" tombak Juncker LW Para Badge (a later example though imo). I think a lot of them probably had file marks but Juncker normally heavily ground/buffed them down so that on most badges they are no longer visible.

        Regards
        Mike

PS: Scan attached - excuse the Michael Jackson effect!

PPS: I've mentioned it before, but this is not the only Juncker LW Para Badge I've seen with old green paint on the edges!!
