    Hi Frank,

the badge is a multi piece construction and no casting .... because there arne no casting traces and marks to find. It must be stamped. The arcorn leaves are polished on their borders and the bomb ist burnished. In real you can see several stamp borders on the edges.

Under the hinge and catch is a solder joint, the rivet on the backside sits in a big deep hole like your badge shows it .... and that's the biggest construction difference to badge vom RvB Militaria and the one which started this thread.

I tried to make some better pics for a direct compare.

    Greets

              Hi ak72,

I trust your experience and respect your opinion, you are after all the one holding your clasp and ultimately you are the one who should be comfortable owning it.
I hope your clasp is indeed a rare RSS variation and does not belong to the family of fakes with that catch of which two are shown in this thread.
              Cheers, Frank

Please can I revive this thread because it leaves me really confused about my Bronze RSS Bomber Clasp. I've always thought it was good until I tripped over this thread, which suggests the catch means it is not good.

Please would the experts take a look at these images of my clasp. It seems to have lots of 'good' features but also 'that catch'.

                Thanks for any help.

I'm also a bit confused - I have a bronze RSS clasp almost identical to ak72's, also with the flat, wide-bale catch, that I've never had any doubts about. I also just acquired an obviously worn and original RSS-made Buntmetall minesweeper war badge that has the same catch. I'm not disputing that RSS-made clasps may have been faked, but is it also possible that the thin-bale catch is much more common?

Perhaps Gene will chime in. The two bombers in my collection marked to this maker both have round wire catches. It's certainly possible they had used different catches (ex Muk CCC's), but I don't know for sure on these.

                              Hi Guys

There are a lot of Luftwaffe clasps being offered with the flat type catch, including a bomber clasp with star pendant on the e-stand right now.

I think it is important we try to conclude if this catch automatically makes a clasp 'bad', as has been suggested.

                              Expert help required please.

                              best wishes
                              Tim O.

Hi Tim, I have owned a legit gold short range fighter that had the flat catch, but it was an unmarked piece.
