    Pilot badge variation

    Hello,

    Round pilot badge,
can anybody tell me if this one is original? (I think the detail isn't right). And what is the story of this badge? Is it true it was awarded in the late war to jet pilots? or civil pilots? or someone els? I don't know. I think it's not really known. Am I right? And if this one is a fake, could somebody be so kind to post an original example?
p.s: This is a zinc one
    Thanks for helping.

It is my understanding that these are fantasy pieces. However, a recent thread discussing these did show an RAF pilot with a similar design croth badge on his flight tunic. I believe these pilots flew captured Axis aircraft.

That's all I know on it.

              Nick,

Most collectors tend not to trust these badges as not only is there no photographic evidence showing them in wear but interviews with hundreds of former Luftwaffe pilots (including many I have asked personally) have not yielded a single affirmation of their existence either. They look nice, they look interesting, they look appealing too. They just can't be confirmed as being wartime, so many play it safe and just shun them as being reproductions.

Here's some pics of a friends round badge. They are fakes? This is a real nice made badge, and has a hall mark. Anyone know what the mark is?
