new badge today ground assault

got this late war Luftwaffe Ground assault badge, paint still on clouds, bolt and rocks, picked it up with a couple of well worn buckles, the buckles are in the buckle forum. Thoughts ?

Hi Kevin, these late war cast badges are a very tough call from pics. They have been faked to a high degree. The paint on yours looks suspiciously like some of the fakes I've seen, but I can't make a determination from the pics. Maybe some others can help. best wishes,

I don't know, I did clean it up a bit, it was totally black when I got it from the house call, with the buckle. I think it's best to get a few more opinions before I throw it in the junk basket, what is it about the paint that makes it suspect? Could you show me one of these fakes so I can tell.

Hi Kevin, it might very well be a good one. The fact that you had to do a big cleanup on it helps. I meant the color of the paint. The originals often have a lighter blue colored paint. Try doing a search on these and you will see many examples. Click on the search tab at the top of the page and type in keywords like luftwaffe ground combat badge. best wishes,
