    Assman Air Gunner Badge

Since Assman items seem to be popping up rather regularly, here's another. Early?

      Hello Eric,

Nice piece, make sure you bring that one with you.

        OK!

I'll bring the badge and you bring the girl with the six-pack of canned Heinekens...

Where are we meeting? Kansas? Nebraska?

I would if it were mine Joe! Eric, I think it's a very nice earlier Assmann, but it definately had the bolts at one time. Still a great looking piece IMO!

I agree, very nice early badge. The only problem is whenwere the lightening bolts removed?... wartime or by the last owner to increase the value (but actually decreasing it!)

                  Hi, Eric S. and Rich

Since I bought the piece from a private party that has absolutely no interest in WW2 stuff, I am inclined to say that the bolts were removed quite a while ago. This was an estate find that came with the "daisy" PAB...along with some other neat stuff.

It's just so impossible to tell. But if the price is right...

                        Assman Air Gunner

I've been told that the Early Assman Air Gunner Badges have the DRGM on the upper right side of the wreath. I have one of these and every one that sees it always says that about it. What is the real Deal? Butch

The early Assmann's with the DRGM marking on the wreaths are usually Aluminium versions - different dies.

I have a tombak pilot badge dual marked A and DRGM; I think it signifies early manufacture.

Thanks Gene, mine also has the Assman "A" as well as the DRGM markings. I don't think it's Aluminum either.Butch
