Medals I purchased to go with the award documents I have. I tried to go w/correct period items, to match the documents, i.e. late war pilot badge(he became pilot in 1944).
early sport award. Although I do not have the last two documents(DKIG&Kurland cuff title), they are wrtten down in his last entry, May 8, 1945. I guess I have to get two more awards! Charlie
For all you goblet lovers out there be on the look-out/beware of someone in Europe peddling a Goblet for a "Werner Hoffmann" (I believe I am correct). This person somehow fell off the face of the earth after receiving payment from an acquaintance of mine...no Goblet, no way to recover money.
Fran: We'll keep our eyes out. Can you give more information on the seller? Also, here's a really neat Goblet I just picked up at a local antique show.
Frenzel won a Knights Cross as a Feldwebel as a member of 11./Kampf-Geschwader z.b. V. 1. Fritzel got his Knights Cross for an extraordinary mission. Wearing British uniforms, he and his crew flew in a captured British bomber to England on a bombing mission to attack british industrial complexes. He actually refueled at a British base without anyone knowing who he was. Amazing story!
I do not have all the info, and I am not sure how much my acquaintance would like divulged. I believe the guy was swiss and the goblet was acompanied w/some photos and such.
I know little more other than he has no way to get money back, the guy has since stopped returning emails and my friend never received the grouping...it has been months.
