IMO a J2 Imme is much harder to find than a J2 Juncker. That means variant collectors like me are willing to pay more for the Imme.

J3 Immes appear to be as common as J3 Junckers and seem to cost about the same.

Just my personal opinion mind you. Others may have other experiences.

Has anyone ever investigated, as to whether the J2s are IMME or JMME marked? And secondly, whether the J3s are IMME or JMME marked? I don't ever recall any threads pertaining to this question... Just wondering if there was some type of pattern that correlated makermarks with badge styles.

my observations have been that J2s are marked IMME in quiet large letters and J3s are marked JMME in small letters.

Just like the textbook examples posted by Tim.

I'm with you on this Skip.

You guys may recall a thread some time ago detailing a J2 badge which was up for sale on by Kai Winkler, double maker marked Juncker over laid with the maker mark of IMME. A very interesting piece which I actually acquired. At some point I will renew some images. I have only seen J3 badges with the Jmme mark.

Apologies to everyone, having agreed with Skip I've just realised that my Jmme marked badge is in fact a J2 badge. Nevertheless, other Jmme marked badges recently posted are definitely J3s. Getting confused, what do I know!! Sorry too many beers this evening.

And aren't some the the JMMEs marked ..... & Sohn ? How do they fit into the (chronological) scheme of things? I know that we see the additional '& Sohn' on the Paras and RO/AGs. But never on the P, P/Os, or Obs. And did IMME/ JMME/ JMME & SOHN BERLIN, ever even make Observer Badges?

I have both the "JMME" J2 and the "IMME" J2.

The JMME is the typical silver buntmetal badge with the typical JMME hinge, catch and rivets. Also the dark finish is worn like other JMME badges.

On the other hand, the "IMME" marked badge is distinctly "Juncker" in material, hinge, catch , rivets and finish.

In my opinion, the "IMME" badges were actually made by Juncker in the traditional "Juncker" style on a contract basis for JMME & Sohne.....and marked "IMME". I believe the "IMME" badges are the first in the series.

I think the dies were later sold directly to JMME & Sohne, who then used their own material, hinges, catches, rivets and finish for the production of the "JMME" marked badges.

Seems to be very little rhyme or reason to this.
Although I still think that most J2s are marked IMME large and most J3s are marked JMME small

My line up is:

J2 (typical Juncker) is marked IMME large
J3 (typical "green" eagle) is marked JMME small
Imme pilots (Imme eagle) is marked JMME small
Observer (typical Juncker) is marked IMME large
Para(typical Juncker eagle/wreath) is marked Jmme&Sohn
Para (typical Imme eagle) is marked Jmme&Sohn
AG/RO (typical "green" eagle) is marked JMME small
AG/RO (like above) is marked Jmme&Sohn

Don't concern yourself. Do as I do, quaff large quantities of your favourate falling over water and everything seems quite logical, clear and straight forward!!!!!! In fact as easy as J1, J2, J3
