      Hi Deejay,

How different in size? I have to say, having read that I am thinking the first example is a repro casting. It is certainly not a zincer as mentioned above imo - not using that hardware and the basemetal does not look like zinc.

The second one you posted looks textbook original. Very nice!

The difference in size makes me uncomftable.

How big are the badges exactly?

Are you sure that the eagle and the wreath are two seperate parts?

          Hi again,

thanks for replies again. Now I see that there are some doubts amoung you about the authenticy of badge 1 (for the ease I will call it 1) ... see what I mean?

Badge 1 came from a reputable dealer in Hamburg, sold as a Juncker Buntmetal for a reasonable price at that time.

          Measurements of 1

          Wreath:
          • height 51.5 mm at the most
          • width 41.0 mm
          Eagle
          • total length is 48.2 mm
          • height 25.0 mm
          Measurements of 2 (MM Juncker)

          Wreath:
          • 52.9 mm
          • 42.5 mm
          Eagle
          • total length is 50.0 mm
          • height is 26 mm
Badge 1 is not a zinc one as I stated earlier and it does look like a high quality cast buntmetal badge with all the correct features of a Juncker besides the catch and size.

The possibility of a cast Junckers FJ was once a big topic on this forum, now I would like you experts to shoot at this one because I am sure we are dealing with a unusual badge here (reproduction or not).

          regards,

          DJ

            Hi Deejay,

after seeing the side by side pics and the measurements I´m afraid I would revise my opinion and class it as a top cast copy.

            You should return it IMO.

              Hi all,

just to keep you informed (and warned), this is what has happend in the mean time.

I offered the (cast) parabadge back to the dealer where it came from for a trade with a TDB he was selling for € 580,00. He was eager and so I sent the badge. A few days later I called him and one of his employees told me he did not like the badge as it was a reproduction.... I said, well that's funny I bought it in your store as an authentic Juncker FJ...

He promissed to inform me how this would continue, let me wait two days and sent a e-mail asking me what price they should pay me. I responded and said he should just make the trade as planned because if this FJ badge was as he described (and seeing the price he sold it for a few years ago) he would have profit (don't you agree?)

No he will not trade it 1 on 1.

Do some of you have some advice on this? (my lawyer does...)

That sux mate ... that guy sounds like a real dick

But ... getting your Lawyer involved would be similar to my wife ... driving across town spending $5 on gas to save $3 on a sale item

Threaten the dealer with exposure on the Forum and if he still does******180;nt move expose him here.

I think the trouble you will have with court cases etc. probably is******180;nt worth the trouble and seeing you are in Europe you will also have the "Nazi stuff" hassel.

                      Hi again,

just to let you all know how this story ended:

I sent the badge back to the dealer with a trade proposal for another item not mentioning anything at first just to see what would happen. The dealer was kean to trade until he receieved the badge. I rang him and he said the badge was a reproduction. I said: "well that's very strange, I bought it from you as a real one about three years ago..." all went silent for a moment and he said he would get back to me.

A few days later he emailed me saying he would pay back the amount I payed for it.

I didn't like hearing that, as I missed out on some extra value but anyway I accepted and I did make the trade in the end but I had to pay him the difference of about 145 euro even though the badge should have been worth nearly double the amount if it where a real Juncker FJ.

I don't feel bad about it anymore, as again I (and I hope you all too) have learnt some more about :

                      1) High quality cast copies of LW badges exist
                      2) That even the big-game dealers do make mistakes
                      3) They are honest enough to admit it

                      many regards

                      DJ
