    GWL Cased PO Badge

In the many discussions on this Forum I have never seen one that has shown any cased GWL Luftwaffe badges, the badges themselves have been shown but not the cases they came in.

I have a cased Pilot Observer badge by GWL , the case is form fitted for the badge, the top has a SPECIAL recessed part to accomodate the deeper pin and pinblock that these badges have.

The cased Pilot and Observer GWL badges I have are in a different style of case, the inside has only a flocked cardboard centre section that will allow the GWL badges to sit in it, but not the nice early type of case.

Does anybody have a GWL badge either PO, Pilot or Observer in an early form fitted case? if so could you please post pics as I have never seen one other than the one that I am posting.

Here are the pics of the case and the badge

The case again. You can just see the recessed section at the top for the larger pin and pinblock of the GWL badge. The case is basically the same size as a normal one but it is deeper to fit the badge.

            Beautiful, just beautiful!

I have a cased pilot badge from this maker and I attach the style of case that this came in. As you'll see it's not an early case so the style is different.

                Hello Richard,

Thanks for your reply. The inside of the cases that I have for the GWL Pilot and the Observers badge are the same as the one you have shown, and as you say not the early style with the velvet.

So at the moment it seems GWL used these cases for there badges, unless someone posts some pics of an early one like the PO case I posted above.

Here are the cases for the Pilot and the Observer, same inside as yours.

                Regards,

                Anthony

Beautiful set you have there. IMO one of the nicest finishes to grace a badge.

                      Cheers

I have been hunting out the GWL series for some time now and comb the internet NIGHTLY!! in hopes of finishing off my LW collection. Well, I am eithier to late or come up empty. These really are my favorite of all the makers of LW pieces. I think that you are a lucky sort to have them. Thank you for sharing them, I will most certainly want a spot on your waiting list when the time comes to part with these. Awsome examples!!

                              Best regards,
