Hi Frank,

You lose a lot of resolution when making them fit here, but on the better PICS you can see it's an earlier bird with the longer neck--that's all though. So, I guess it could be a J1 or maybe even an early Assmann, but no definitive answers, sorry.

I guess there is no guarantee that the badge in the photo is the same badge here either. Clausen was shot down and killed afterall.

I see Victor has posted his tabs, boards, and gloves on the "Insignia" forum and he had picked those up from the same source as well.

Hi Frank! and...Happy New Year my friend!! Two more days and then..back to work.

Absolutely no offense taken and yes, I wonder why the families don't have more interest in keeping on to their heritage, but it seems to be either too painful for some and an embarrasment to others. Personally, I would never part with anything and try my best to pass it down and keep it in the family; but that's me.

The problem with an item like this or even that DKiG (Gerd Schreiber's) is that once the group is separated, it is very easy to lose that specific identity and eventually that piece of history is lost forever. I can only trust the "seller" in these cases and look over the group to see if the decription actually makes sense or if it's obviously a made up case of fiction.

In these two recent cases, I see several items that appear to be genuine and when the grouping is evaluated on the whole, it has too many items not to be anything but legitimate, though you can never truly tell unless the item is clearly the "same" as one depicted in a wartime photo which is virtually impossible IMO.

A chance, but a nice badge all the same and for now, one I believe to be Erwin Clausen's.
