    Deumer Pilot Badge Opinions

    Hallo Guys,

I just ordered a Deumer PB from Kai Winkler. It stood there on his side quite a long time. Now i am unsure, if I made the right decision.
Especially the Maker Mark confuses me. The badge does not match the typical Deumer. What are your opinions? Is it a fake? Should I return it (It is on the way, so I can only show the photos on K. Winklers Website).
I would be very pleased, if the experts could have a look at it. Here is a link to the photos:

IMO the mark is not correct. Leaving the marking aside, the badge does not have any Deumer characteristics that are usually found, eg hinge, rivets, catch... none are like Deumer but look like they should be JMME/IMME. Compare to this example to see what I mean.

That makes me nervous about this badge. It has happened before that an original unmarked badge has been given a fake mark to increase value. Could be what has happened here but when it arrives post measurements and weights because it could be a very good casting.

The badge at Kai's site is a F.A.K.E! Eagle is a cast repro! Where is the cut out between the legs? Look at the obverse details! Bad ****e!!

Makers mark is fake. Whole badge is fake! The best use for this badge is to use as a weight stopping papers on the desk from blowing away when you open the window!

        Return as fast as possible!!!

Hansi, I agree with Felix, that this badge is not good. I have seen it for some time as well and the mark is not what a Deumer should look like.

Many collectors here agree on Deumer and Juncker sharing parts, like the Juncker style eagle, hinge & wreath that this badge shows but Deumer only had one type of mark and this is not it.

            Deumer PB

On Holiday in OZ, but having read your thread I had to post this quick message. I purchased this badge from Kai some months ago and submitted pics to the forum for discussion. The consensus was negative, from memory (and that's not too good this morning!), the badge was dimensionally smaller all over, lighter and no characteristic trough underneath the hinge. In hand it was quite convincing, although having now been lucky enough to purchase a genuine PB made up of Juncker parts I can definitely confirm that the Kai badge is a reproduction. You should be able to search the forum for the relevant thread. Hope this helps.

            Happy holidays,

            Tim

Thank you all for your help and saving my money,

the money is still on the bank because of christmas, so the return will be no problem. I write an email to Mr. Winkler, that I cancel my order.

                Best wishes
                Hansi
