That's better if it's an Assmann. Although
the wreath is not sharp, it does show their characteristics but the maker mark looks like it's in a circle! Is it Assmann marked badge? Is it zinc?

thanks for the reply i'm glad its ok this one came from a local dealer with a ss skull which were taken from pow's at a local pow camp looks he bought it in from a old man looks like he was telling the truth.
i'll have to study details i thought both eagles were as sharp,
as to the other the reef is not cast?

              Hello,

I would like to see a better scan of the maker mark if possible. I like the badge, I am just curious about the mark.

              Best,
              JD

Everything screams Assman to me of this badge.
                Best regards,

Yes the badge looks good. I would like to see the logo closer though. Looks like it's surrounded by a circle??

                    ASSMANN LOGO

I don't care much for the logo on Merdock's badge. If the Assmann logo isn't like this on I would not accept it.

                      Hi,

I like the badge as well and I too would like to see a close-up of the marking. It looks like it's been struck so hard that the outline/edge of the marker punch (obviously round) has also been imprinted!

                      Regards
                      Mike K

                        ASSMANN WING DESIGN

The wing design looks a bit different to me.

                          HINGE BLOCK AND PIN

The way the hinge block is affixed in a sloppy manner.

                            ASSMANN DIES

Some of the Assmann dies survived the war and were used by the fakers for years, being swapped from Germany to England and to Holland. How many different Assmann dies were made and used after the war I don't know, but some are being used even today by unscrupulous fakers.

                              Hello,

At first I concurred that the badge was good, except that I wanted to see better pics of the makers mark for reference. But after Mr. Stumps observations I looked at my reference material and archive pics and feel that I agree with Mr. Stumps observations. The wing design on the right reverse is some what crude and not consistent with any that I have in my reference archive and I have quite a few pics of Assman Observers and the wing design just does not match any. I do not have a problem with the hinge even if it is a little sloppy. My thoughts are that I would not pay the kind of money Observer badges sell for and have a question mark on the integrity of the details.

Does anyone have an example of this badge with similar wing design? If so could you please post some pics for reference.

                              Best regards,
                              JD
