It got the same type of hinge that Sven posted a while back of one of his IAB´s.

      Can´t remember the maker though

Don´t throw away your fake WB´s! Get in touch with me.
I collect them for reference purposes for the benefit of the hobby (for the right "fake" price of course).

Found the pics of it, hope he don´t mind me posting some of them here.

Maker was BSW on his IAB.

          guys

Do you think that hinge was repaired or replaced? I notice that pin is very thin. Any idea?

To which badge you are referring to Indy? Flak or IAB?

              Hans,
I do believe that posted by you IAB is original. So this type of hinge in my eyes is original. What is shocking to me is this: how in the hell this type of hinge is on this type of the Flak badge? You can still see "crimping" area prepared for ball hinge...And i have never seen these flak badges made of buntmetal either...

My 2 cents - Buntmetal - that's what my Opa's is made of. No surprise there. As for the hinge, my guess is it is period repaired. Like Frank showed in his GAB book they would send badges for repair and if this one ended up at BSW, well, guess what the hinge is that it gets? I think this is especially likely since the catch is 100% typical for this badge. So the ball pops off, they put in a BSW hinge and pin, and recrimp it.

                  Dear Marc,
very nice theory, but i dont see any repair marks on the badge crimping area...

If the ball popped out cleanly maybe it was an easy repair? Won't know until we get it in hand. I have more theories than the Astros have hits!

I also noted the long, pointy pin that Indy called. I think it is a replacement hinge and pin.

I also noted another badge on the same site that I am curious about. It is a supposed "buntmetal" Juncker Gunner badge that has all the fittings, design and the maker mark of a ZINC badge. And...the badge looks strangely buntmetal to me...not zinc. Here are pictures: Opinions?
