    Juncker Pilot, you opinions please

I have been asked for my opinion on this J2. I have given the owner my opinions and would appreciate it if you could give me yours to see if we concur.

There's 5 pics so please be patient while I get them posted!

Hard to say. The swaztika looks like **** and the pin looks fat.

Hi Rich. It looks like a J2 design. Some of the wing details look pretty good, but other parts look "murky".

Maybe its the scan, but the coloring of the badge doesn't look right to me. I would expect more worn areas to be a darker brass color with a milder gradation to silver and original finish in the less worn areas. Hinge is questionable and catch looks repaired or fake. Swaz looks very smooth on the surface compared to a "pock-marked" reverse. Also noting some "ridges" on the external portions of the swaz.

Based on these pictures I'd stay away from this one.

What did you tell the guy.

                Hi Richard,

I wouldn't touch it. Details, especially on the eagle are very soft. The barrel parts of the hinge (the part on each side that is attached to the wreath) is very fat, original Junckers hinges are thinner in comparison.

If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little

                    Hi,

I can only agree with the others who believe this is probably a casting from an original. Detail appears weak, there appear to be casting inperfections on the obverse of the wreath and I've never seen a J2 in nickel silver (this one looks "worn", so I'd expect to see tombac).

Having said that, they have done a very good job of reproducing the hand finishing on the reverse edges of the eagle.

                    Regards

Yup, front looks cast and I don't like a single thing about the back.

                      100% BAD IMO.

I have one just like this and have not been comfortable with it since I joined the WA forum. I bought it in N. London in the mid 80s. In addition to the other comments, the maker mark is not like the "standard" Juncker mark either (tiny and ill-defined). However, I think Detlev sold a screw-back one of these as original a couple of months ago...

                          Guys,

Thanks for your comments, your views concurred with mine. I told the owner that my opinion was a cast copy.

                          Thanks again

                            Hi,

poor detail in eagle, poor material of wreath and wrong rivets and catch, even if I haven't seen closed mm, I agree with you, a copy.
