Very nice, Darren. The badge looks original...except I think the catch was repaired/replaced with a plated catch. The badge is worn and shows a lot of character.

Otherwise, I think it is a very nice example. B&NL used a dark brass tombak and it clearly shows on yours. The wreaths are typically a bright silver that usually show dark areas on the reverse as yours does.

I agree with Lorenzo in 100% here. Good, nice badge with replaced catch.

Would really like to see some good close-ups of the catch at different angles. Oddly, it looks as though yours has some original silver finish on it and some authentic ageing. More close-ups of the catch....please!

Interesting. Here is a larger picture that I lightened a little bit. Typically, the catch is soldered directly to the wreath without a plate. But the silver finish on the plate seems to match the rest.

What tells me that something happened to the catch is lack of silvering around the plate...

Yes, you're right. . It looks like the "paste"-type of solder/adhesive.

Still a nice badge, IMO. ( I am assuming the case is authentic. Maybe others can comment on the case.)

Absolutely. As Lorenzo said: Very nice badge with character. So, Darren are you the new lucky owner?
Ps. Darren, if no one will comment on the case i will start the new thread for you tomorrow in cases section of the forum.

Agree that its a period badge with a nicely executed repair to the hook.
Case looks spot on for a "mid-war" case. I******180;d go for it.

                          Hi Guys,

Thanks for all the positive feedback. I am in the process of contacting Weitze. Hopefully it hasn't been sold yet.....

                          regards,

                          Darren
