Came in a very fine 'small' type early case.

Great Observer Neil, congrats. Just love the tombak showing through on the high spots of the wings and wreath. I would consider this badge mint, but I like badges like this better than the ultra-mint 100% finish ones. Tombak highlights gives it so much character.

If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little

                  Lucky b`stard again Neil.
I was going to grab that one as well but the price tag was beyond me at the time. I thought it would stay there a few weeks but you obviously grabbed it.

Apologies gentlemen as I have just seen that I have not answered your questions from a while back!

                          Ron,

                          Pics of the case :

Mark, I believe this is the only one to have surfaced so far! It came from Kai Winckler.

Neal - that is one beautiful badge...the details are very rich. Congratulations

I would assume my Assmann is the 'second' type; however, the lightly worn areas on the wreath and eagle seem to show through as nickel-silver. Is that possible for a second type?
