Ground Assault and Glider Badge authenticity check.

    Hi guys,

Checking these two badges for a friend.

Ground Assault looks ok but I haven't got a clue about the Glider?

    Many thanks in advance.

    Dave

          Hello Tom,

These eagles are found on several post LWGAB and flak with many maker marks. They are think to be made by S&L. Could be attached to an original as well.

The eagle style is not correct for MuK5. compare to a known original.

Unfortunately, these LWGABs are so good that they fool many, myself included. I bought one about 15 years ago in Vienna that was marked to RK. I thought it was good until I posted it and found out the truth. Mine was a complete fake with small differences to the cutouts, rivets and hardware, but the main giveaway was the completely different eagle.

Definitely fooled me Dale, I thought it was fine and the Glider was the fake
At least I now know what to look out for in the future.
                  Thanks to all that posted

I can only agree, the LGAB is a common fake using an S&L eagle. As Dale says these can sometimes be found marked RK too.

The Glider is a bit controversial. They seem to be wartime compatible with hardware and finish and base metal and there is some anecdotal evidence tying them to late war production found in vet hands. So they are largely accepted as originals.

If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little
