    PO Badge Opinions please.

    Hi Guys,
Been offered this badge, would like your opinions please. Price is £280 which I think is OK, but not sure if pin is replaced?

        Mike,

I am reconsidering that this may be a good badge. Originally I thought 'no good'. But the aging, along with some details, have pushed me back on the fence. Small details, like the rivets, look period. The pin was either repaired, at the hinge, or made that way. Do you see any shear marks around the edge of the wreath?

In your close-up of the makermark, there appears to be a deep pit in the back of the eagle. A dent or a maunfacturer fault? What happened there.

I have heard of this manufacturer, several Luft examples have been shown before. I believe they were accepted as 'good', from this obscure maker.

You are a lucky chap Mike.

          I´d buy that straight away.
I believe Francois is the only other person with 2!! of these. Sure looks like a BSW to me. I think a search under Deutschbein may throw out an interesting thread.
Detlev also mentions this specific maker in his guied.

            Hi Guys,
            Sorry for delay in replying.
Mark, in answer to your question, there does seem to be shear marks around the edge. Hard to see as badge is fairly worn around the edges. The pit in the back looks like a fault in the metal, not a dent.
Skip, bought and paid for and cheers for posting the the thread. Makes badge quite interesting.

              Hi Guys,

Sorry to bring this back to the top.
I Know there's a question about this being good. As Skip says it is mentioned in Detlev's guide, can anyone tell me if he gives an idea of value as I'm thinking of insuring my badges and medals as my collection is growing.

Very interesting thread. I never heard of this maker before.

What indications show this to be a PO badge vs. a regular Pilots Badge, since all the coloring has disappeared? The maker itself?

It is a pilot's badge, Darrell.
                  Cheers, Frank

Did the manufacturer stamped on the reverse buy parts from BSW?

                      Hi Frank,

I thought so. The "PO" in the title of this thread got me wondering.

                        Hi Mike,

Even as the badge is a scarce to find maker, I don't think that would drive the value any higher than a Juncker Tombak Pilot badge, in similar condition. My guess for insurance purposes, $750 - $1000.

That is what is widely assumed, Larry.
