    Pilot Badge variations

Hi. I am trying to branch out into Luftwaffe collecting, notably the Pilot Badge. I have read the onsite articles which are excellent but I was wondering would any other Luftwaffe collectors out there mind sharing some pictures of their Pilot Badges?

I would be especially grateful for any pics illustrating the differences in the variants of the Juncker Pilot Badge.

    Any help appreciated.

    Hey Martin!

Just to start things rolling here's the first pattern Juncker. Note: no void between the legs which can also be found with this type.

      Looking

I too have been looking for the LW pilots badge recently, and so far have only found fakes, I now firmly believe that Rich has all the real ones, he just pretends to have 'a few' (he's got them all stacked away in his prison!)

      Regards

          Thanks

          Cheers guys.

A question for you. Are all Pilot Badge catches question mark shaped or do some have the standard 'C' shape?

Also...aluminium badges aside, what are the normal weights for the Pilot Badge?

            Hi Martin

Attached is my 2nd Pattern Junker's Pilot Badge. Sorry that I can have the copyright photo here for you. I think there are many other LW badge collectors can help you out for better picture. If you really need, I can make it to you later.

                Martin,

Only the BSW should have the "?" clasp.

Rich, I have no idea what you are talking about, I will however show you the three patterns of Hermann's Baby Sitter's badge.

                  Hey Martin,

It is my understanding that Yuri (from the forum) will write soon a complete article on pilot badges, for Military Advisor - I believe it is worth waiting a little for this article and to have the necessary info

Hi Guys. Both Assmann and the common unmarked variety also have the "?" type catch.

PS...Assmann used both "C" and "?" type catches.

                      Cool

                      Hey guys.

Many thanks for all the tips so far and also the pics of those damn fine badges. I have spent the last week absorbing anything I could find on the Pilot. Now the tricky part, finding a genuine badge for sale! There are quite a few on various sites. I guess I will have to enter the five minute feeding frenzy at Detlev's site on Friday again.

Just signed up for the Military Adviser, looking forward to Yuri's article immensely.

                      Thanks again for the feedback!

Tim, just for my education would you mind listing the makers of your badges so I can see how well I did on trying to identify them.

                          Hi Snigley,

The three above are all Junckers. Rather than say 1st pattern Juncker etc....I call 'em J1, J2, and J3.
If you are referring to the badges in the "Display" section, Jos pretty much nailed them....of course, he'll nail anything that moves, so that's no surprise.
