Assmann Observer like last pattern Para

Heres a couple of pics I just lifted from Thomas Huss´s site.

This is a first for me but maybe some of you have seen it before. Observer badge with cast in hinge, ejector marks and die number(?) on the wreath.

    Very interesting.

Hi Skip. I think it is rare, but here is a pic with the ejector marks and no."1" on the wreath.
(I think this picture came from Yuri.)

That is correct. I wonder if the swastika is deformed on that one as well?

          Nope,

I just communicated with Thomas and he kindly sent me this uncovered pic of the front over.

Kinda makes you question the 2 die theory on the Para badges does´nt it?
2 dies for so few Obs.badges, or have we seen Pilots badges with the same setup and die(?) number yet?

            Hi Skip,

Not sure what you're meaning here. I remember seeing one of these injection molded Assmann Observer's before (?Yuri's) and I remember comparing the wreath to my injection molded Para Badge wreath - they were from the same mold imo. I haven't seen a Pilot/PO Badge with this wreath though - yet!

Nice to know there is more than one!

            Regards

              Hi Mike,

What!! the Para and Observer had the same wreath?

I know Pilots and Observers badges have the same wreath as do Paras and AG/ROs but I have never seen a Para on an Observer wreath.

                Hi Skip,

I was only referring to the late-war injection molded wreaths by Assmann. What I think happened is that they simply attached some Observer Eagles to the wreath they normally used for the late Para Badges.

I can't make any comparisons at present, but if you have one of the late-war injection molded Para badges (or images), compare the wreaths with these two Observer wreaths. Imo, they are were same when I compared my Para Badge (2 marked) with the Observer Badge wreath images, even the "flashing" on the edges.

                Regards
                Mike K

PS, from memory, B&NL Para Badges and Pilot Badges also share the same wreath, and B&NLs are very close to Assmanns.
                Regards
                Mike

                  Hi Mike,

Indeed you are right. I´ve just been searching through the forum for pics of an inject mould para. Looks pretty much like the same mould. My mistake, disregard the above comment, good observation on your part.
