    A Serious Luftwaffe Badge Question!

Okay guys & gals, here we go: I see many, many cased examples of the full spectrum of Luftwaffe Qualification Badges, with one exception: The Ground Combat Badge. I see paper packets (skeptical at best on these), but I've never seen a GCB cased?? Why? Did they never come this way? Late-war production?? All help, insight and tips greatly appreciated!

    Erdkampf-abzeichen

    Rick,

Angolia's F&F, 2nd ed. has one pictured on page 210 and Forman's 3rd ed. has one on page 140.

      Erdkampf case

      Hello,

According to some authors they exist but I have never encountered one that I trusted ( even not in a very famous collection in Germany ) => so beware of the minefield called " Erdkampf " case

      Cordial Greetings,

        Hi,

me too I haven't this case, but the example in the books look originals.
I think they were made in war time, but they are rare.

Hi Rick, what makes you skeptical on the paper packets? It is the amount on the market, or do you just doubt they exsisted in the first place? Reason being I have a packet for one, which I bought about 20 years ago for a £1. I can scan it for you if you wish? It is the usual poor quaility woodchip type paper.
          Cheers, Ade.

              RE: Packets

Most of the packets I've seen for stuff beyond the usual, low-end decorations and wound badges have been of recent manufacture. Doesn't mean they're not out there, but I'd love to see scans if you have a real one. It would give me one more box on the "must find" list!

Hi Rick & Ivan, here is the packet from my collection. As you will see the paper is the usual late war, poor quality stuff. I doubt you could get paper this poor now? Here is a scan of the front.
                Cheers, Ade.

Here is a scan of the back of the packet. As you can see it is maker marked.
                  Cheers, Ade.

                    Hello Adrian,

very nice and it looks exactly as must be the paper type.

you can get today with recycling system, but not with the same colours.

Here is a close up on the makers stamp. Have I found a new unknown maker here? Reason I ask is that in Ailsby's book he does not list this maker? Is it listed elsewhere?
                      Cheers, Ade.

                        Dear Adrian,

Arno Wallpach, Salzburg/Austria is Präsidialkanzlei-Nr. 108. Leave Ailsby´s book under the table leg.

                        Cheers, Frank H.
