Cast looks right, backboard appears to have been black at one time. Construction and hanger are proper. Cant really make the engraving out but would not be the highest quality on a piece like this. I think you can risk 200.00 and pull the plaque with a proper nut driver and it might be bronze which would jive with the dates. No one can call it bad off the photos here.Comment

Like JMCM I've suddenly seen these popping up around the place - and never noticed one before. A bit like the U-boat plaques that are suddenly everywhere. Always a danger sign. I think Glaser's note about the seller also having the fake coffee pot conclusively puts the final nail in that coffin.
