Probably an item for the paper forum, but seeing as it is here in the KM forum i will share my thoughts after going through files.

I think this is a posthumus document for a crewman from the HK Pinguin.

It is signed by Admiral Guse of the Marinestation Ostsee, the authority of Heimatstab Ausland which controlled the HK personnel and is signed on 31 Okt 1941.

The Pinguin was sunk on May 8 1941 with great loss of life, including the Commander Ernst-Felix Kruder.

I am waiting for confirmation from a friend to see if he has the name on the Pinguin crewlist.

A nice and hard to find document.

    Cheers,Martin.

I'm not a fan of the signature itself, nor the misspelling of "Admiral" (hidden by the signature itself). I'd see if you can find some signature comparisons before spending any money on it.

          Hello,

I agree with Hank. This document is a fake. Two original signatures of Admiral Günther Guse shown below:

I have to agree seeing the above comparisons of the signature.

However, this crewman,Rudolf Barthel did serve on the Pinguin and was lost with the ship on 8 May 1941, sunk by HMS Cornwall.

              Cheers,Martin.
