Hi, all I know about those is that they were given out to deserving workers on naval base such as in Lorient and St Nazaire. I have some books talking about it, I may have look at it this Week end. Although I have never seen one with this type of attachment. I live not so far from the coast where the Kriegsmarine history can be seen in many spots

Yes, looks like the later zinc version with crimped pin as seen in the reference thread here: http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...44#post6612344 but the obverse detail is worn down and, of course, with a replaced pin system crudely soldered on the reverse.
