Any information is appreciated in advance. From what I read up on previous threads, the flaw that is visible on these badges is visible on this example (circled in red, last picture) so hopefully this example is up to par. Thank you!

I would agree, a very nice mint zinc Schwerin in this thread and an equally nice S&L zinc U-boat in the other thread. But I can’t help but notice since the two badges are posted at the same time that the finish looks surprisingly identical on these two zincers despite that fact that one was supposed to have been finished in Lüdenscheid and the other in Berlin.
Did these two badges show up together somewhere?

I was pointing out that the ship looks as though it has the globe finish at the bottom of the hull which could be normal

Thank you everyone for the input, to clarify a few questions raised:
Norm F's question about the finish of the 2 badges. They were both purchased at the same show BUT in hand it is clear the finish on the two piece is very different. The lighting setup I use is what is throwing it off.
Also to answer the question raised about the finish on the waves being on the hull of the ship. Its not that the finish is overlapping, its more that the finish on the hull of the ship is a bit worn, and again it is the lighting that makes it seem off. After all it is a zinc badge so it shouldnt be too uncommon to see the finish starting to wear away.

Like Norm i do not recall seeing the finish on the globe spilling over onto the hull of the ship.
After a closer look now it does appear that the finish on the globe may have been applied after the globe was attached to the badge.
The question is,when ???
I also do not recall seeing a Schwerin zincer with that overall dark grey finish on the globe ?
I still think it is an original badge,but now with a possibility of the globe being refinished ?

Folks, I do not see any issue with either badge. In regards to the globe finish overlap onto the hull of the boat, we have no idea if the globe on this badge was put on first or second regardless of what we think we have observed on similar badges over the years. Maybe during a quality inspection of these badges before they left the factory it was touched up, or the globe went on first without a finish and they made up for that later.
I do not see a big deal with this observation as anomalies happen and badge fabrication sequence in this case (globe, catch, pin, hinge) might have been different in certain examples.
