Hello Collectors,

Can anyone help me with this U-boat abziechen ? I am pretty sure it is good, but can anyone help me with the maker ?

Hi Chris,

Quite a few threads in archives to discuss this variant (see 5 feather sub badge) because it is the only sub badge with 5 feathers in the wings (instead of 4). From what I have read, some solid back zink badges were found in credible groups, others are tombac holllow stamped versions with or without unknown maker mark (TW). The dies for this design (male & female) were found with Schwerin markings a little while back. I have one and its one of the best designed sub IMO but the jury is still out as to whether these are period (WW II) or post war produced

Hi Chris,
JC has said it all. This is so called 5 feather u-boat in zinc. Solid variants like yours have a chance to be wartime made. IMO at least some of them are wartime. Yours looks very convincing.
