    Agree, the Schwerin is a poor fake.
    Poor detail, signs of pitting everywhere.. one to avoid.

        - wrong obverse design and weak details indicating a casting;
        - wrong complete hardware, which is typical for postwar reproductions;
        - wrong maker's mark;
        - wrong internal and external cutouts.

        That confirm my first thought about this badge

          Hi Andy,
          Thanks,
          Since you are in agreement with Hubert, no one can argue with that.

            Hi again,
            I have just come across this U Boat Badge by Freidrich Orth. I note that on the reverse the circle is located centrally under the fo, rather than being displaced slightly to the right as in the correct original Badge at the start of this thread. Am I correct that this particular badge is therefore a reoproduction. I attach some pics.
            Thanks,
            Peter

              Hi Peter,

              No, it's fine too. The circle on the Orth badges is punched in by hand after the fact, so the location varies. In fact, if you see a bunch with the circle in precisely the same spot that would be suspicious!

              Best regards,
              ---Norm

                  Great to be able to learn these facts. Thanks for your time and effort.
