    Souval Destroyer Badge

    Hi guys,

This Destroyer Badge by Rudolph Souval was in the mail, waiting for me when I got home from the MAX Show. It appears to be an original Souval as best as I can tell.

    Best regards,
    Tom

    Hi Tom,

I think is a good wartime compatible award by Souval.

The reverse hardware matches that of my Souval Hilfskreuzer award.

    I like it.

    Cheers,Martin.

Souval badges really didnt stand very well the test of time, they are all quite poorly made.

        Best regards,

With the materials that were available in latter period of the war I think they did just fine.

I have had a few wartime Souval awards over time and the detail is very nice.Like a lot of zinc awards the finish did not hold up over time.

I does not mean they were poorly made.

            Regards,Martin.

I disagree with that. Souval is by far the worst manufacturer from wartime period. Anyhow I am willing to pay just half of the price for his wartime items in comparison with usual prices. So if usual price for some ordinary EK2 made practically by any producer is around 80 euros for example, I am ready to pay for Souval EK2 at the most 40 € and I have bought actually several Souval EK2 for that price and I paid around 80 € to 90 euros for Souval EK1 in a few occasions, also I bought Souval ASA for 50 euros and price for ASA badge is at least 100€, but Souval and his items are garbage and I mean about his wartime pieces and I should not even mention his postwar activities and production, that is one of the biggest shame in history when it comes to producing of military awards and decorations. And I have bought, and I am still buying actually, wartime Souval pieces only in order to resell them, I would never keep any of that junk.

                Best regards,
                Franko

                  I second that
Hymmen or Rettenmaier late war KM zincers look even worse than Souvals.
                  Cheers,
                  Hubert

Indeed Hubert, and if you collect a certain type of award like me,you want examples from all known manufacturers, good or bad.

                    Cheers,Martin.
