    Auxillary Cruiser Badge

    Hi all

Hope you are all well in life and living life to the best thus far through the year.

My question is a simple one.

Is it possible to find a mint cased auxillary cruiser badge?.

And what price range would I be expected to pay.

Any help toward this question would be muchly appreciated.

    Regards

    Trent

    Hi Trent,

you`ll be hard pushed to find a cased one. I´ve only seen them in small blue cardboard boxes, sometimes with an LDO stamp on them. I´m not saying there are no cased ones (Marcus?) just I have never seen one.

Hard to sy as to price so lets put it this way. I paid 800DM for my boxed one (unmarked Juncker, buntmetal) way back in 1990. In those days Detlev was selling cased buntmetal Pilot Badges with MM for 550/600DM. Seeing as cased Pilots are now going around the 1000Euro you can roughly figure what a boxed Aux. could cost.

      Awsome Skip

Thank you for the insight, I will keep my eyes open and see what floats up on the market over the next few months.

I have never seen one myself, found a nice cased destroyer badge it was close to mint for around 1000 euro..

I do love cased awards, but alas you pay that extra few hundred for the pleasure.

      Cheers mate

Here is one just sold by Craig Gottlieb...I'm not sure what it went for however I agree with Skip..the cased ones are pretty rare.

Here's mine.... unmarked but the consensus seems to be that these were made by Juncker...expect to pay more for a Schwerin marked piece.

Hmmm, I would have liked to have seen more of that case that the Aux. was in. Like lid, button, under the inlet etc.

Not saying that its bad but it looks "suspicious". Pity that there are no better pics on the web site.

I can't remember the price very well, but it was really a beauty! If you're lucky you still can see the additional pics when it's sold, but not with this one
                    Kind regards,
                    Giel

Please note that the badge was of course original, but the case was stated as being a reproduction. I have never seen a cased Auxillary Cruiser badge. Just wanted to clear that up Thanks!

                        Hi guys,

I was looking through a few sites and found this one. It's sold though, the price was 1150.00 EUR:

                          Aux Cruiser

                          Hello Trent,
Here is my example and it is hallmarked Schwerin Berlin. This badge was a yard sale find in the mid 70's. This same piece is shown on pages 380-381 of Combat Badges of the 3rd Reich by Michael Tucker. Last year, I was offered $1,600 for it by a member of this forum and I turned it down. That may give you an idea of what a hallmarked example would sell for.

I have also never have seen a cased example. I have a question for Craig, did the case for your badge come from Mueller Militaria? I was thinking about buying a case from him for my badge.
                          Regards,
                          Jody
