Sorry to brake up the party here, but I would send this Fo back to where it came from as soon as possible. These are very good fakes but lucky for us there are some good give aways

2. Maker mark
3. Wreathband
4. finish

Thanks folks…it is a sad morning in <st1 ="">Romeoville</st1> today…it is a second in the raw “highly questionable” item from the same dealer…should I post his www, as warning?

Agree, that the badge is just too good to be true. As for posting the 'www site', I have two questions. 1) Is the dealer taking the badges back without problem? and 2) Do you wish somebody would have cautioned you about his site, before you got involved with it? Should you decide to do so, you could post the site name in the Collector's Community Forum and encourage discussion there. Keep this thread a bit more 'to the point'.

Here is what i got from dealer:

"I know what you mean but this modern copys looks like 100% to the original.

Nobody can say that this piece is original or not. There are no difference between an original or an copy.

This piece is bought from privat not from any big collection or small collector – so you don´t need to be disappointed.

I am selling original items and I make the buyings here myself. I know what I put on my homepage – I select all the items.

You can see on my homepage that I show all details – with many many pics.

Who says this and make you disappointed ?

Hi Robert sorry but its still a FAKE. for the reasons already listed. Tell him you are not 100% on the piece and so you would like a refund, any dealer worth his salt would agree to this. If you also do a search on High seas fleet awards you will also find the F.O with the same stlyle of marker mark as Philippe has already shown.(not the one that you show).All the best

Well the only thing I can make of the sellers comments is that English isn't in mothertongue, but the question Mark put forward remains: will he take it back and refund you? If not you better post a link to this guys site so we can have a look at his other merchandise

Not that you need any more people to say that it is no good but I just thought I'd chip in to add weight to the numbers. Don't take any notice of what the dealer says get your money back if you are not personally 100% OK with it. Sounds like he is trying to convince you to keep it. If this badge was original any respected dealer would take it back in an instant if you were not happy as it would sell again in an instant.

As Philipe noted that other point to look out for apart from the makers mark is the wreath tie at the bottom, the faked is much more ribbed than the original.
