Metal heavy cruiser Deutschland Ship Crest?

Hello! I call upon this community again to authenticate this item. The seller said that its a ship crest for the heavy cruiser Deutschland, but its very different from the others. Namely, this crest is made of metal as opposed to the typical wooden ship crests.

Looking at this ship list (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deutsc...disambiguation)), there are a number of Deutschlands that this could've covered, ranging from battleships to training ships to the titular heavy cruiser. From the back of this item, I personally think it looks like its old, but I have never seen a metal ship crest for German vessels before.

What do you guys think? Does it have the potential to be authentic? Could it possibly be from the famous panzerschiff?

    Thanks!

Well, I'll take a stab at this.
I like it. This has an old age feel about it and does match the crest of the Deutschland. Yes, metal or ceramic on wood seemed to be a popular display choice for the Schiffswappen. However there were several variants and styles. As shown in this post I started, you will notice that there is different versions of the Deutschland as well as the Emden and the Scheer.

It would have been great to find out the dimensions and rough weight of this. I can say that I think this has a good chance of being a good period constructed crest from the Deutschland. (not actually mounted on the port and starboard bow of the ship)

    Best Regards,
