Opinions sought on U Boat Badge in case

I would be grateful for opinions on this U Boat Badge, which to my unlearned eye looks to be of too inferior quality to be genuine. I attach some pics.

But...but...but it's in a case. If it was fake they wouldn't put it in a case. That looks as bad as the HSF I posted.
