KM Destroyer and Coast Arty; Opinions Please.

Hello again,

I received the 2 KM badges I wrote about last week and have taken these photos. Please let me have your opinions. I've included closeups of some yellowish paint (maybe old laquer) on the Destroyer wreath and silver paint on the other wreath: what is this? Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

PS: The Destroyer badge is slightly convex while the Coast Artillery appears to be dead flat on the back.

Excuse my ignorance, but what's the story on these hinges with a core in the middle .

Sorry Peter, but all I can do is ask that same question, and even add to it.... Why does the pin on the Coast Artillery have that reddish copper look while the pin on the Destroyer is the same color as the back of the badge?

Excuse my ignorance, but what's the story on these hinges with a core in the middle .
