    Coastal_artillery badge L/21 marked

    Hello Collectors,

I have ventured in the Kriegsmarine waters a bit, buying this Coastal artillery badge on the E-stand. It is a very nice badge in hand and has a clear boxed L/21 mark (hard to photograph with my camera) The badge has a faint gold finish, the grey/black finish of the gun itself is well preserved. The badge has fully functional hardware.

I have looked on the forum but I have not seen many (only one!) of this maker, can anyone else show me the ones they have in there collection ?

I would like to have your opinion on this badge.

    Thanks alot,

    Chris

            Very nice badge.

You’re right, the marked examples are quite uncommon. As you’ve probably already seen from your search there’s this one:
            http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...d.php?t=193322
which is the earlier variant without the base plate under the catch.

The ratio of marked to unmarked is similar to the F&B Minesweeper badge, so it seems that only a few were marked L/21 for the private purchase market. Likewise, it’s my understanding that the late wartime F&B CA badges in the hoard find of 2009 included a few marked but mostly unmarked examples:
            http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...d.php?t=361491

Perhaps others could comment and post their F&Bs as well?

            Best regards,
            —-Norm

Defiantly one from hoard find. They were all mint with the faded but still visble gold wash.

There were about 150 pieces in the hoard from which about 20 were marked on the pin like this one.

Here's another one previously sold by M-B, no doubt from the hoard.
