U-Boat Badge ?

I got this awhile back and have tried researching it. I found that U-115 was ordered but never built from these two sites uboot.net and ubootwaffe.net.

Is the inscription post war?
Is the badge good?

Hi Bear,

The history or rather non-history of U-115 makes the inscrption even less likely to be contemporary. This would be the first proven awarded or sold and actually worn French made (Bacqueville) U-Boat badge ever. Almost too good to be true, I am afraid.

Have you checked the gilding? It looks a bit unusual and the reverse inscription could have been made to cover up a refinish.

This is the only badge I have ever had with a gold finish. Here is a close up of the eagle maybe that will help.
