Hi Scot from the pics there appear to be tiny holes on the reverse, one at 3 0 clock, one at 5 o clock one dead centre left of the pin as viewing, and possibly one at 11 0 clock. The wave structure also lacks in depth (the left hand side again as viewing) the final roll over of the wave. Hope this makes sense.

Ok, Now I see. You have some good eyes.
I also compared the waves to the ones in the Niemann book and I see what you mean.
      Thanks!
I guess this one is going back.

Here are come comparisons to the RS&S fake. IMO a close enough match to stay away from. Details are superb on both of these badges, but would like to get it in hand for a closer examination of the material. Like the RS&S fake it doesn't appear to be tombak.

I may be able to get it for $20.00 since it is a Repro. If I do, I will get hold of you and let you borrow it for a while to document the differences.

Excellent research gentlemen. It only makes sense that the forgers are taking the maker marks off these old ( 10 years or so) badges. Before this forum was available the forgers would use maker marks to help sell the piece but with all the historical research that is now available a maker mark is a liability. Most of the money used to make a quality fake comes from the badge tool & die since the hardware is cheap to produce and is interchangeable with other fake pieces.

Agree with ed that this is the way I think the fakers will go in the near future. They are starting to get some good looking pins, hinges and catches though.

Did we get an answer if this pin bends easily?

Soon they will be hardening the pins. Quite a simple task. I could do it in my kitchen.
