Silver Dollar - Schwerin Blockade Runner

Just had this Blockade Runner come in. When I first picked it up it threw me a little because it almost looks like it's silver. I'm just used to seeing them with a nice black badge and a silver eagle. Regardless of the toned "silver dollar" look, I think it's drop dead gorgeous.

I'm thinking it's an early production piece by Schwerin.

I think i can see feint traces of the tombak basemetal on the highlights.

I have one very similar with this visible silver finish and the same maker mark and reverse hardware.Could be that they are just very worn.

Hi Martin,
Yes it's tombak, it just looked silver compared to what I normally see with the dark finished Blockade runners. There's a little brass peeking through on the wing ridge but that's about the only spot and it's hard to see.

Your Blockade Runner is a stunning beauty. I like them with a little wear.

Thanks! There was never any doubt with this one. I mainly posted it because I found it to be a beautiful example. The wear just added to its appeal giving it a refreshing look when compaired to other badges of this type. So I thought I'd share. In hand it's like a piece of jewelry.
