What characteristics can you see that determines this one is a fake? Just trying to learn for the future..

Wrong hinge (narrower than original) and hinge pin head (too big), wrong maker's mark, wrong details of the water spout on the obverse.

My doubts about the badge have been confirmed. Again, I appreciate Hubert's analysis, which is absolutely correct.

In addition to what has been mentioned, I would add to the list of characteristics of the " cave creek special" the following; the fake is thicker, especially the top surface of the wings; the gold color on the obverse is more yellow than gold; and there is no gold gilding on the top surface of the wings. You can see a photo of the area I refer to on my previous post showing what a "vaulted" badge looks like.
I hope what has been printed here will prevent another collector from becoming a victim.
