    U boat Badge Junker?

    Hi all,

I've seen this U Boat badge a dealers website, I think it's a Junker but I wanted a better opinion as my knowledge is limited. I've been reading the Torpedo Los book which has a similar badge but I wanted to make sure. Also has the catch been repaired and is it a nice original badge?

Many thanks and it's much appreciated for your thoughts.

    Neil

    Hi

Here is my Juncker to compare with.
You can see that the one at Philips are not a Juncker if you compare them.

                    Hi Neil,

That's the "5-feather" U-boat, so-named because of its unique design with 5 horizontal wing feathers.

Here's an extensive thread on these badges:
                    http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...d.php?t=740363

There are hollow versions of this badge which are fakes from around the 1960s or 1970s, but these solid versions might be wartime, possibly a second late wartime design from Schwerin (when you read that thread you'll see the dies with the Schwerin name on them). But they're still a bit controversial.

Having said all that, the finish looks loos strange and shiny on that example. It could just be the photos but it's possible that it's been refinished, especially when you look around the hinge and hinge pin.

                    Best regards,
                    ---Norm

                      Hi Norm,

Many thanks for your advice and help, I appreciate other the fellow collectors who put put the picture online.

I've been after a decent Juncker for ages and I still can't find one which is decent and a fair price. The link you supplied was an interesting read and I learned a lot.

                      Cheers,
                      Neil
