    21 marked ACB

    Hello,
Saw this while looking at a gentleman's collection and only had time to take a few photos. In person it looks much nicer, except that he kept it in case with foam backing which has deteriorated and stuck to the badge, but should clean off easily. I thought it might have a chance to be good, until I edited the photos and saw the 21 marked on the pin. So, does that make it a repro, or an original with a postwar marked pin?
    Thank you,
    Dale

      Hi Dale,

Here are two more examples. These are horrible old cast repros of the S&L Auxiliary Cruiser, probably from the 1970s, that worked their way into old collections and unfortunately occasionally emerge to cause blindness...

Here are the Coastal Artillery and U-Boat badges from the series:

Thanks Norm. Before I posted I had a second to look at the pinned thread on fakes but didn't see this one. I thought it was based on an S&L but didn't have time to search the forum for originals. He said he got this in trade from an old time collector, so I'm sure he won't be happy when I tell him the truth. I appreciate your help.

                I agree, one looker
That blue artificial corrosion looks funny
                Cheers,
                Hubert

The blue corrosion isn't contrived, it is just foam stuck to the badge from the case he had it stored in. I think he kept it in a hot attic for number of years, so it melted and stuck to the badge.
