    MineSweeper Badge opinions Please

I found this badge today at a flea market. I want to know it it is genuine. The pin hook is gone, and the medal has a bend. I do not see any markings.

        Hi Wade,

That looks to me like an original zinc Minesweeper Badge. It is the type attributed to Paul Meybauer of Berlin. Too bad about the broken catch, though.

        Best regards,

Thank you Tom. Do you think it could be straightened without cracking it?

            Hi Wade,

I think with a zinc-based badge like that it would be best to leave it as is. Zinc is brittle at room temperature so it can fracture if you try to bend it. It looks fine the way it is.

            Best regards,
            Tom

I agree with Tom and i would also not touch the badge.
It may have been altered by the recipient ?
I would leave it as is,it's a good original.

              Cheers,martin.

Agreed, original Meybauer zincer, type 2.3.5 in the MS classification system, pity about the catch.
