    Blockade Breaker Badge by Schwerin

    Hello all,

I'm looking to purchase this Blockade Breaker Badge, and to me it checks out as a genuine alongside the pin (I don't know much about the pin so please advise also). the finish and quality checks out to me, as does the pin. maybe the lettering on the right differs slightly to others I've seen?

But and its a Big but, above the eagles wing to the right of the mast the void is full or material, I assume its solder from attaching the hinge or a casting error? either way I've never seen one before and cant find a similar one? it makes me doubt the whole piece - which may be me being over cautious.

the seller is a great guy and has sold me lovely pieces in the past that have been checked out on these forums which I also take not of.

please send your thoughts to help me not make a mistake!

    Kind Regards

    Alex

    Hi Alex,

Both the full-size badge and the stickpin miniature look like nice originals.

    Best regards,

      Hello Tom,

thanks for the feedback - any thoughts on the blocked out void above the wing on the badge itself?

      Kind Regards

        Hi Alex,

Perhaps a die-strike defect caused by excess material in a dirty die or the solder seepage that you mentioned. These things were mass-produced, so they didn't always come out perfect. Still looks very nice though.

        Best regards,
        Tom

I agree with Tom here. It's minor production defect and does not make this beautiful zinc BR look any worse.
          Cheers,
