    Kriegsmarine Badges Authenticity Help

I picked up these from an estate sale this week. I'm a little weary of them because I found so many in a single place. Plus I saw a fake m43 cap at the same sale/ All of them have little brown envelopes and are marked. Any idea if there real or all fake?

First is the E-Boat Badge R.S maker.

It's interesting to see the two fakes with the envelopes. Here's another example of the fake "Flotten-Kriegsabzeichen" envelope, from the series of so-called "scrawl" fake packets, so named because of their spidery font. It's logical to have come with the classic R.S.&S. fake Fleet badge.

                  Best regards,
                  ---Norm

P.S. The Souval S-Boat and the Schwerin zinc Blockade Breaker look okay though.

While the pin is close with the BB example, the letters are fat and very poorly struck. 7 portholes, OK, good sign.

Here is a good example to compare. Maybe just worn. Pin hinge in different postion. Pin good. John

Agreed, RS S-boot and Schwerin BR look like nice original badges
                        Cheers,

I guess that what we observe is a flattening of the letters of heavily worn badges to explain the differences between those and crisp letter strikes in mintier badges.
