One only has to compare it side-by-side with an original Schott to see the difference (and the "800" mark is a real giveaway).

The images of the original on the red background aren't mine but there is a wealth of images and experience on Imperial U-Boat badges in the Imperial section of the forum. If you do a search in that forum for "U-boat" or "Schott" you'll find lots of interesting reading.

This fake of the f.o. badge is probably from the same workshop as the fake Imperial U-Boat badge -- same hinge and "800" mark.
