But is Butscheck aware of that the badge is refinished?

I emailed Klaus and sent him a link to thread which he was unaware of. The item is now listed as having been re-finished or restored, he also said that he would ensure any buyer was informed of the fact that the finish was not original.
I have only ever bought one item from KB but he has seemed to me to be one of the better dealers out there and will rectify or make good any mistakes from other threads I have read on WAF.

          1220 Euros

Went for 1220 Euros plus commission and shipping.
Nowhere near worth that amount for my liking? I guess someone has deep pockets.

I agree, Steve. Deep pockets are an advantage when it comes to quality items but a handicap when combined with ignorance since they can sometimes inhibit the incentive to educate oneself; someone now has an expensive dud in his collection. I'm sure a common phenomenon in the world of antiques and collectibles.

It's also conceivable it was purchased by someone unscrupulous who plans to peddle it for a profit in a less public arena to an unsuspecting buyer as a "mint original". Who knows.

Wow, good to see the dealer did the right thing and changed the description. But man thats expensive for a refinished badge. Hope the new owner doesn't try and sell it as fully ordinal in the future!

Not only refinished -- as mentioned, defective non-aluminum globe and weird rivet too.
