    U-boot Kriegsabzeichen maker 65

Just picked up this nice zinc badge. I love the contrast of the gold paint and the patina

Please can you confirm if there was a maker 65

    Many thanks

    Nick

    Hi Nick,
This is S&L zincer with spurious 65 mm which most likely was added post war IMO. The badge itself can be wartime or postwar, impossible to tell.
    Cheers,
    Hubert

        Hi Nick,

The badge itself is likely S&L leftover stock. The "65" mark is post-war, likely at the time of finishing, and appears on a variety of awards as discussed in this thread:
        http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...d.php?t=741018

There were a few years when this confused the collecting community into thinking there was "Klein & Quenzer" U-Boat badge but the mark is different from K&Q's mark and besides appears on other makers' products as shown in that thread. K&Q is not a known maker of KM badges.

        Best regards,
        ---Norm

Edit: Ah, I see Hubert already answered.

            Hi Nick,

Is this an incuse-relief maker mark I see to the left of the catchplate or just a surface defect?

            Best regards,
            Tom
